Lockdown birthdays might actually be the best birthdays. I drank custom cocktails from The Gate from a ridiculous Mickey Mouse Pride-themed tumbler my sister ordered. I got to see two of my best pals (separately, in the garden sufficiently distanced) for the first time in MONTHS, and video-chatted with my faraway family. My house ended up looking like some combination of a florist, bakery and record store that only sells reissues by The Hold Steady. My excellent husband strapped on his food courier bag to pick up takeway from Lychee Oriental, and ordered me an afternoon tea from Cup to enjoy over the weekend. I tell you what though, after the most socialising I’ve done since March your favourite 38-year-old was desperate for her bed. No idea how I’ll make it through the day without a nap when life starts to go back to normal.
